A talisman composed of a grey wolf metacarpal with a simplistic image of a völva engraved and inked upon its surface, paired with locally made glass (find the maker on Instagram @frit_and_fibre), bone, smokey quartz, and golden sheen obsidian beads.
A völva was a sort of seeress in Viking Age society who practiced seiðr, an enigmatic form of trance and spirit work. They were often described as traveling through communities, performing their sorcery in exchange for room and board, and were both highly respected and viewed with a degree of fear. It was a complex, community service based role that is not so easily described, and that still exists today in some Norse religious circles.
This talisman was made with the intention to connect its wearer to the völur of old, serving as wise counsel to those who wish to walk the path of seiðr.
